The test...

The in laws were coming over for dinner. It was my mum-in-law's birthday and somehow it felt like I was taking a practical exam..u know what I mean? The mother-in-law's inspection..haha..well..I'm not implying I have a mean mum-in-law, in fact she's real nice....but somehow I sometimes feel she suspects my ability to whip out something decent. So last sat was not just any birthday meal, but it was THE MEAL!

Went grocery shopping at Cold Storage and decided to buy all premier stuff, so in case if the meal didn't turn out very well, at least the ingredients were fresh! ha...all in the mind but what the heck I needed all the help I could get.

On the Menu
1 . Smoked salmon & egg rolls with dill
2 . Roasted chicken wrap with homemade salsa
3 . Sour cream & chive mash potatoes
4 . Pan-fried steak served with sauteed brown mushrooms & onions, steamed asparagus & carrots
5 . Roasted herbs chicken (rosemary & thyme) served with sauteed brown mushrooms & onions, steamed asparagus & carrots - Cos mummy doesn't eat beef, so there's 2 mains.
6 . Strawberrry cake....didn't bake this, got it from the bakery. Wanted to bake her one but decided it's not good to try so hard to impress ya..

Ingredients for the salsa...minus the rosemary..dunno how it ended up in the pic..

The result? Everything was gone from the table at the end of the meal...so my conclusion was - either they were all very hungry or I passed the test! For my peace of mind, I prefer to think it was the latter... ;-)

Sweet & Sour Pork

I have been busy over the last few weekends and yes, I did cook but I didn't manage to take any pictures. Wasn't in the mood with so much work to do..u know what I mean. But, cook I did this weekend. Infact, I cooked all meals..the hubby has been under the weather..down with a bad cough and slight fever, with the medication he's taking, he's pretty much 1/2 asleep all the time.

So being a proper, loving wife, I didn't want my darling to be eating take outs..made him pork & carrots porridge for lunch on Sat (didn't take pics cos not very pretty ya) and dry mee with a huge bowl of soup with lots of ingredents (think big bowl mee)...also didn't take pics cos too hungry to wait.

Made him his favourite Sweet & Sour Pork for lunch this afternoon and guess what! He said his mummy's version is nicer!!! Darn...that man ought to be whack! "fumming..."

Fat Chef Fried Rice

Throw lots of veges with rice, egg and a can of spiced pork and what do you get?

A bowl of THE famous Fat Chef Fried Rice!!! Ok...just kidding..not very famous but it's one of my hubby favourite dish. Easy to make and I get to score some brownie points..why not?
